Traditions
There is no doubt about it, when you think of Italian traditions you think about food association. The culture, the region of Italy, the people, climate and even the history play a key role in the cuisine.
When you think of Rome, you are thinking of The Vatican, The Trevi Fountain and where you will stop to eat. It can’t be helped food is on your mind in Italy at all times.
Memories in Italy
I had many memories when I visited Rome but what I bragged the most about was the pasta I ate or the amazing pizza I had at this place and how great the gelato was. Food is a foundation in Italian culture. It is part of our thought process.
In Italian tradition it is not uncommon to have a meal that consists of several courses; such as Antipasto, pasta, salad , main course, dessert. There is only one way to end a great Italian meal and that is with a digestivo drink and an espresso coffee.
Family get togethers
Holidays and celebrations like Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Weddings and local regional festivals are all about who is around the table and what food will be prepared.
Italians are all about the traditions and preparing meals that represent their culture, the occasion being celebrated and sharing a meal with family and friends.
Here are a few favorite traditional foods
- Panettone ( sweet bread eaten during Christmas Holidays)
- Torrone (Nougat with toasted nuts)
- Easter Bread ( sweet bread with hard boiled painted eggs eaten at Easter)
